Sin is sovereign till sovereign grace dethrones it. - Charles Spurgeon
Sin is a power that is greater then Man's "will", the will of man is enslaved to Sin, and until Divine Providence intervenes man will continue to be a hostage and in bondage to Sin. Sin is his master and man doesn't have a choice in the matter. Most "addiction programs" try to bring this idea out when they speak concerning their "1st step"; Powerless over_______. All addictions are just forms of idolatry. They all are "false gods". The culture and the society in America is an addicted society. The only remedy for any addiction is Jesus Christ. Only Christ can truly set people free from their addictions. Addiction is a spirtual problem (sin problem) and only the Savior can save people from their sins.
John 8:34 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. ESV
Romans 6:16 Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? ESV
Romans 6:22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. ESV
"Sin", needs to be mortified each and every day. We are either "killing sin" or our "sin will be killing us".
